This started as a master study of one of my favorite contemporary artists, Chris Turnham(http://christurnham.tumblr.com/), then I started referencing this photo (http://25.media.tumblr.com/tumblr_m1pfy7uCHq1r1dcylo1_500.jpg), and then I made it my own, from there.
Did these today. Practicing with a couple screenshots from one of my favorite movies, Kiss Me Deadly (1955).
